What can I do to prepare for you before we leave?
• If your pet has any unusual habits like destructive behavior when left alone, change in bowel or eating habits etc, please make sure to tell me about these in advance.
• Set out everything your pet needs in one visible and accessible area. This includes food, treats, utensils, food and water bowls, medications, leash, can opener, toys, paper towels, cleaning supplies, garbage bags, litter and scoop, broom and dustpan and/or vacuum cleaner, pet towels.
• Provide extra food, litter, and supplies just in case you are home later than expected.
• Close off any areas of your home that are off limits to the pet, and let me know about it in advance. If there are any particular problems I should be aware of, such as a leaky faucet or a pet that likes to get into the garbage etc, let me know before you leave.
• Make sure you have filled out the pet sitting agreement and vet agreement forms (I will scan them and send you your copies via email.)
Do I pay before or after our trip?
• Payment is due when the service begins
(I accept cash, checks, and zelle)
How long do you stay for drop-in visits?
• I stay for 30 minutes (unless we have agreed upon another length of time in advance.) For cats: the only exception to the 30 minute time-frame is if your kitty is shy/nervous/scared and is reluctant to come out if I am there (ie: waiting for me to leave before they come out to eat.) That rarely happens though! Most kitties warm up rather quickly when their humans leave and they realize I am there to give them food and TLC! I can come by up to 3 times a day depending on what you need and/or my availability.
Do you keep my house key and/or do you charge for key pick-up/drop-off?
• Yes, I can keep your house key, in a safe location (this makes it easier for everyone when you need my services again.)
• I do charge a key pick-up fee (if keys aren't exchanged during the meet n' greet) and I charge a key drop-off fee as well. I highly recommend you invest in a lockbox (they are super secure and very easy to operate) and this allows you to bypass the key fees.
Do you give sub-q fluids and insulin injections?
• Yes, I can do both! Most pets handle those treatments very well! The only exception where I wouldn't be able to perform the treatments is if they are scared/hiding from me or if they are aggressive towards me.
What happens if there is an emergency with my pet or you?
• In the event of an emergency regarding your Pet(s), I am able to drop your Pet off at the emergency vet but I will not be able to stay with the Pet while waiting for care/receiving care. The Client will need to make arrangements with a friend/family member to wait with the Pet at the emergency vet and take the Pet to Client’s home when they are released. I can resume pet care services (feeding/medicating/usual chores) at the Client’s home if the Pet doesn’t require specialized supervision throughout the day/night. If I am available to stay with the Pet and spend the day and/or night with the Pet, I will, and Client agrees to pay for this extra service. If I am unavailable for specialized supervision, Client will make arrangements with a friend/family member to take over the Pets care.
• In the event an emergency pops up for myself, it is up to the Client to make arrangements for someone to care for the Pets (prior to your trip) until you return home/or I am able to resume the duties. I have a couple responsible back-up sitters that I fully trust and can recommend if you are interested.
